The Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute
Description
The Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute (VTI), is an independent and internationally prominent research institute in the transport sector. Its principal task is to conduct research and development related to infrastructure, traffic and transport. The institute holds the quality management systems certificate ISO 9001 and the environmental management systems certificate ISO 14001. Some of its test methods are also certified by Swedac. VTI has about 200 employees and is located in Linköping (head office), Stockholm, Gothenburg and Lund.
Role and Key Contribution to the Project
VTI will develop and validate innovative test methods to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of the adaptive and cooperative Human-Machine Interface systems that will be developed in HEIDI. These methods will be validated through co-simulation studies, allowing pedestrians and drivers to interact in the same virtual space. This infrastructure will also enable the final evaluation of the HEIDI cooperative system to be carried out. The validation methods will be included in a list of future recommendations for the standardisation of similar systems.
